Four Things To Avoid When Planning Your Wedding

Not giving everyone a seat

Weddings are expensive, but every budget should be able to accommodate a chair, or at least a place to sit, for every guest. Your guests of all ages are going to want a place to sit and take a quick rest during the reception - even if they are party animals and don't plan on leaving the dance floor. Give them a chance to grab a drink, take a load off for a minute, then go back to partying hard.

Serve enough food

Think passed appetizers are going to be enough to feed your guests? Think again. If people are coming to a party that is at least 4 hours long, they will need a meal to get through. Again, weddings are expensive but you should be able to feed people no matter what budget you're working on.

No first dance

Like it or not, you are the star of the show at your wedding and people are coming from all over to celebration you and your newly minted spouse. Give your guests the chance to really celebrate your union by having a first dance. Think it's too cheesy? Try an unusual song. Or do a poem. Do something that has your guests direct their attention to the happy couple and give them a moment to fully absorb the love in the room.

Trust an iPod to DJ the event.

No, just no. Don't put a playlist of music on and expect everyone to get up and dance. You should be able to find a DJ that will work with your budget to at least create a playlist of music that will cater to guests of all ages.
